Dispatch

'Dispatch' Scottish 1888 build schooner a few years after she was placed on the bank. A Speyside built two masted schooner, trading for many years between Gloucester and Ireland in the salt trade. A very important relic of wood shipbuilding, from a famous Scottish yard, and incorporating interesting construction and rigging systems.


Under sail until the 1938 when upon her purchase by the Gloucester based Lighterage company G. T .Beard in c. 1938, she was eventually cut down at the Hempstead Bridge Yard and renamed 'New Dispatch' only to be eventually beached c1959 after 2 years of being used as a pontoon within the old arm on the Sharpness to Gloucester canal .
